Quick Change: Underrated Gem or am I just Clown-Crazy?
Okay, so I've watched 'Quick Change' like a million times, and I swear I find something new EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. It's got that perfect 90s New York grit, right? And Bill Murray is just...Bill Murray. But it's not just him being funny, there's something kinda biting about the whole thing. What I'm wondering is, does anyone else catch the subtle digs at bureaucracy and the absurdity of city life? Like, the whole running gag with them trying to get to the airport is just chef's kiss perfect. And the lady at the information booth? Iconic. But seriously, is it just me or is that whole sequence a major commentary on how ridiculously difficult it is to do anything simple in a big city? I think it's about how you can plan everything to be perfect and life still throws a wrench in the works. Also, anyone else notice how carefully Grimm plans the bank robbery but seemingly hasn't thought more than 5 minutes ahead once he walks out of the bank? He's clearly intelligent, and so is his crew, so is that a deliberate choice? It's almost like he wants to get caught, or maybe he is just that jaded. It's such a weird contrast and I love it. Let me know your thoughts! Am I reading too much into this, or is 'Quick Change' secretly a genius satire disguised as a comedy? I'm always up for another rewatch and a good discussion, so hit me with your fav moments and any details I might've missed (again)!
