Pacific Heights - Dude, What a Nightmare Tenant!

Okay, so I just watched "Pacific Heights" (1990) and WOW. I knew like, the general premise of a bad tenant situation, but this movie took it to a whole new level. First off, Melanie Griffith and Matthew Modine are adorable as the young couple trying to make it in San Francisco. Big props to them for actually working on their house, not just hiring people! I felt so bad for them when Michael Keaton's character, Carter Hayes, starts his slow-burn psycho routine. Like, seriously, the dude starts with not paying rent (annoying enough!) but then escalates to deliberately destroying the place and suing them??! The scene where he's just pounding nails at 3 AM was creeeeepy. And the way he manipulates everything with the legal loopholes? Ugh, gave me major anxiety. I was screaming at the TV for them to just sell the dang house and get out! The performances were great, if a little over-the-top at times (Keaton especially), but honestly, I think it just adds to the whole unsettling vibe. It's definitely a '90s thriller through and through, feels a little dated in some ways but still holds up. I think the ending was a little rushed, tbh. But overall, 'Pacific Heights' is a solid, albeit stressful, watch if you're into property nightmares and Michael Keaton being a total sociopath. Like, I don't think I'll ever want to be a landlord after seeing this LOL. Has anyone else seen this? What did you think? Was I the only one yelling at the TV?
