Two Evil Eyes: First Timer's Thoughts (Kinda Creepy!)

Okay, so I blind bought "Two Evil Eyes" the other day because I saw it mentioned on a thread about 90s horror anthologies. Didn't know anything about it going in, just that it was Poe adaptations. Turns out it's actually two segments directed by different people, which I didn't realize. The first one, with Adrienne Barbeau, was alright. Super twisty with the whole inheritance thing and her being a total monster. The special effects makeup on Harvey Keitel were surprisingly decent for the time, all gross and zombified. But honestly, it felt kinda slow-paced. Like, get to the point already! The second one, "The Black Cat," was way more my speed. That reporter guy (Harvey Keitel again, different character thankfully!) was such a scumbag, you actively wanted something bad to happen to him. The cat was genuinely unsettling, especially with those close-up shots of its eyes. Definitely better than the first half in my opinion. I'm always happy when animals get their revenge in movies. Anyone else find the cat super mesmerizing, or was it just me? I think I'm gonna have to keep my eye on my own cat now... Overall, it was a decent watch. Far from the best anthology film I've ever seen, but definitely worth checking out for Poe fans. It's a bit uneven, but the "Black Cat" segment really saved it for me. Anyone know which director did which segments? I gotta look that up now. And what did everyone else think, cat or zombie segment better? Oh, and quick question: Did anyone else notice how much better the color grading was in "The Black Cat" compared to "The Facts in the Case of Mr. Valdemar?" It almost looked like a different movie entirely. Maybe it's just my TV but that seems odd.
