Anyone else catch "The Comics"? Super weird, but kinda cool...
Okay, so I stumbled across this super low-budget thing called 'The Comics' (1990) late last night. I was like, half asleep, channel surfing, and BAM! These two dudes in like, total silent movie getup jump RIGHT out of the screen. Seriously, the premise is insane - they're silent film stars, and suddenly they're just...here, in the real world. Chaos ensues, naturally. The whole thing's shot in this bizarre way that makes you feel like you're watching a silent movie, too, even though there's sound. Did anyone else find that kinda disorienting? I kept wanting to yell at them to just TALK! The scene where they try to order food in a diner, and everything just turns into a slapstick mess? I was dying, but also, I felt kinda bad for the poor waitress. She looked genuinely terrified. So, my question is...did anyone else actually SEE this movie? I can't find ANYTHING on it. No director listed, barely a plot summary anywhere. It's like this fever dream of a film. I'm wondering if it's some kind of lost gem, or just, you know, a really weird student project that somehow escaped into the wild. If you have seen it, what did you think? Was that ending as abrupt for you as it was for me? They just...vanish basically. Back into another movie? I don't know. I'm still trying to piece it all together. Maybe I DID dream it, lol?
