T2: Still Holds Up (But Is It Really Sci-Fi?)
Okay, international film buffs, let's talk T2! I finally rewatched it last night, and wow. The action sequences are still insane, even by today's standards. That scene where the T-1000 is chasing John Connor in the truck? Pure adrenaline! It's hard to believe that was made so long ago. Robert Patrick's performance as the T-1000 is chilling-- he's just so relentlessly... empty. The way he runs is so unnatural, it's perfect. Linda Hamilton! What a transformation from the first movie. Sarah Connor is a total badass, ripped and ready to fight. I loved her arc, going from a panicked waitress to a hardened warrior. But, honestly, sometimes I wonder... is T2 really sci-fi? It's got time travel and killer robots, sure, but at its core, it's a story about a mother protecting her son and a reprogrammed machine learning about humanity. That's pretty universal, right? I think what really makes T2 stand out, for me, is the surprisingly emotional core. Arnold's T-800 has some genuinely touching moments, especially when he's learning about why he shouldn’t terminate people. I definitely got a little misty-eyed at the end. Is that just me? I do think the visual effects, while groundbreaking, are a tiny bit dated now. But overall, it’s still a solid action flick with some really impressive practical effects work. What are your favorite action scenes? Let me know!
