T2 - Still Holds Up (But Maybe Not For The Littles!)

Okay, so I finally rewatched Terminator 2: Judgment Day last night. I hadn't seen it since, like, high school! Wow, it's intense. I can totally see why it was such a big deal back in the day. The special effects are still pretty impressive, especially the T-1000's morphing. Seriously, how did they DO that? But man, it's dark. I definitely wouldn't show this to my younger kiddos. Maybe when they're teens? I mean, the whole idea of a killer robot trying to murder a kid is already pretty scary, but then you add in the mental hospital scenes with Sarah... yikes. Linda Hamilton is amazing, though. I totally forgot how ripped she was! She goes full mama bear and it's captivating. And Arnold, of course, is iconic as the protector Terminator. "Hasta la vista, baby" still makes me chuckle. I think what really got to me this time around was the ending. Knowing the future they're trying to prevent... well, it's kinda sad, even though they 'win'. There was a review that blasted Director, "unknown". Is there a good reason for that? Am I missing something? Overall, I'm glad I revisited it. It's definitely a well-made action movie with some surprisingly emotional moments. But parents beware: this ain't your typical family film! What are your thoughts on showing it to kids? What age do you think is appropriate? I'd love to hear other perspectives.
