Hook: Is Peter Banning Actually DEAD the Whole Time?!

Okay, so I know Hook isn't technically a horror movie, but hear me out! I've been thinking about it a lot lately, and I have a WILD theory that Peter Banning is actually dead from the moment he steps off the plane in London. Think about it: everything that happens after that is just too convenient, too fairytale-like, even for a movie about fairytale. Like, first off, he's completely oblivious to his past, right? Total amnesia. Then, suddenly, he's thrust back into Neverland, has to relearn how to be Peter Pan, and face Captain Hook. It's like a forced redemption arc on steroids. I'm not saying it's bad, but what if it's all happening after he's, like, passed on? Maybe he dies in a plane crash or gets hit by a taxi in London (lol), and Neverland is his personal afterlife where he gets to make amends for being a crap dad and husband. Granny Wendy even says something like, "You are the Pan, Peter." What if that wasn't a statement so much as a judgement call? And Captain Hook? He's the ultimate representation of Peter's fears and regrets. The clock in the crocodile? That's time running out for Peter to fix things! Plus, the whole vibe of Neverland is kinda ethereal and dreamlike, right? It's like a purgatory for Peter where he has to confront his past before he can move on. Think about the scene where Rufio dies too. It's brutal but quick. What if Rufio was someone in Peter's life he failed too? Maybe a childhood friend? I'm probably overthinking it, but I can't shake this idea! Anyway, just a thought! What do you guys think? Am I totally off my rocker, or does this theory have some merit? Let me know in the comments! I'm open to having my mind changed, but I'm sticking to this until someone gives me a better one haha.
