Guys, I think Peter Banning knew all along...

Okay, so I've seen Hook like, a million times. It's comfort food, ya know? But something clicked this time around. I think Peter Banning, even before Tinkerbell showed up and whisked him away, knew on some level he was Peter Pan. Hear me out! Think about it. He's TERRIFIED of heights. Like, genuinely panicked at the sight of Wendy's window. That's not just a normal fear! It's someone subconsciously remembering...something. And then there's his complete lack of imagination. He can't see Rufio, he can't fly, he can't even pretend properly with his kids. Maybe he's blocked it out (trauma and all that stuff), but it's still in there somewhere. And the biggest clue, for me anyway, is when Granny Wendy is telling him the Peter Pan story. He's SO dismissive, but there's this tiny little flicker in his eyes when she's talking about the lost boys and Neverland. Like, a micro-expression! Does he really not remember or is he just trying to deny it all? Maybe I'm reading too much into it (I do that!), but it makes the whole movie way more interesting if Peter isn't just a clueless businessman, but a guy wrestling with a suppressed identity. I mean, Spielberg's a pretty smart dude...he had to have put that in there on purpose, right? Let me know what you think!
