Thelma & Louise: Road Trip Gone WILD (and kinda feminist?)

Okay, so I finally watched Thelma & Louise. I know, I know, I'm late to the party. But seriously, why did no one tell me how bonkers this movie is? Like, you think it's gonna be a cute lil' 'escape the patriarchy' girls' weekend...and then BAM! Murder, robbery, and Brad Pitt looking like a snack. I was NOT prepared. The scene where Thelma robs the convenience store? Iconic. Geena Davis just nails the transformation from meek housewife to...well, a slightly unhinged, but totally empowered, outlaw. And Louise shooting Harlan? Justified. I mean, the dude was garbage. Although, I did spend the rest of the movie low-key stressed that they were gonna get caught. The whole thing is just a rollercoaster of emotions. I definitely cried, I'm not gonna lie. Of course, it's not exactly a rom-com, despite Brad Pitt's best efforts. It's more of a 'screw it, let's burn it all down' kind of movie. And honestly? Sometimes that's exactly the vibe you need. The ending...whew. Bittersweet doesn't even begin to cover it. They definitely chose freedom over capture, which, respect. But also, my heart! I'm still processing, tbh. But yeah, definitely worth the watch. Just maybe don't watch it when you're already feeling like you want to drive your car off a cliff...or maybe DO? I don't know, I'm conflicted. Also, who directed this madness? I forgot to look it up, but they deserve an award or somethin'.
