"Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves" - Still Holds Up (Mostly!)
Okay, so I rewatched “Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves” the other night with the kids (my youngest is FINALLY old enough, yay!) and it was… interesting. I remember LOVING this movie as a kid. Kevin Costner as Robin Hood? Alan Rickman as the Sheriff of Nottingham? Seriously iconic. And honestly, Rickman still slays. Every scene he's in is just pure gold. I think he's honestly the best part of the whole movie, even now. But watching it through 'parent eyes' now, there were definitely a few moments where I was like, "Oops, didn't remember that!" A little more violence than I recalled, and some of the Sheriff's lines are… well, let's just say not exactly PG material. We fast-forwarded through a couple things. But overall, the kids were pretty engaged, especially during the action sequences. And honestly, they loved Azeem (Morgan Freeman!). My son kept asking me questions about Islam afterwards, which actually sparked a really great conversation. So, that was a win. Costner's Robin Hood is...well, it's Costner. He's a little bland, let's be real. But the scenery is gorgeous and the soundtrack is epic. It's a bit long, though, I will say that. Definitely feels its runtime. I think the nostalgia factor is strong with this one for me. It's not perfect, and maybe doesn't hold up completely to my childhood memories, but it's still a fun family watch with some caveats and fast-forward button usage involved! What did you guys think of it?
