Delicatessen... Kinda Creeped Out But Also Laughed A Lot?!
Okay, so I just watched "Delicatessen" and... what was that?! It was so weird! Like, I get the whole post-apocalyptic thing and the meat shortage, but the way they were all obsessed with the butcher... and the performances! Seriously, the guy playing the butcher was SO over the top, but in a way that made me giggle. Especially the scene where he's like, sharpening his knives and giving that crazy-eye look? I had to rewind it, it was hilarious. And the love story? Between Louison and the butcher's daughter? Super awkward, but also kinda sweet. Like, they're trying to be cute when everyone around them is thinking about turning him into stew! The whole apartment building felt like a collection of eccentric characters, a bunch of oddballs. Did anyone else think so too? Like, the way they all tried to commit suicide together, that musical bed was both creepy and hilarious!. I'm not sure if I actually liked it, but I definitely couldn't look away. It was bizarre and funny and disturbing all at the same time. Did anyone else have this reaction? Was it supposed to be this goofy? I mean, I get it's supposed to be dark, but I couldn't stop laughing. What's that about? So, yeah, let me know what you guys thought. Was I alone in finding this movie a total trip, or did anyone else get a similar vibe? Maybe I completely missed the point lol.
