Okay, Doors Movie - Was Kilmer ACTUALLY Possessed?

So, alright, been up way too late, just finished another rewatch of Oliver Stone's 'The Doors.' Look, I know it's... divisive. Some people love it, some people think it's a total acid trip (well, duh). But here's my thing: Val Kilmer. I know he's a good actor, but SOMETHING happened to him during that movie. Like, did Stone actually hire a shaman and try to channel Jim Morrison through Kilmer? Because there are moments – the 'Light My Fire' performance, the Miami concert scene, even just the way he LOOKED sometimes – where it's legitimately creepy. It wasn't JUST acting. I'm convinced. I mean, that Lizard King sequence? Totally over the top, but also... oddly compelling? Maybe it's the late hour talking, or maybe I'm just too deep into Morrison lore, but I honestly think Kilmer tapped into something. I think a lot of the criticism about the movie's… excess… actually stems from the fact that Stone was trying to document or maybe create a real psychic phenomenon, not just a bio-pic. He wanted to visually depict the descent, the madness, and the pure rock and roll electricity. And here's where my theory really kicks in: what if Stone meant for the movie to be a little ridiculous? What if that was part of the point? Morrison was a ridiculous figure, a self-mythologizing poet who basically acted like a walking art project. So maybe Stone’s 'The Doors' isn’t a biography at all, but a performance, a ritual, an attempt to conjure the ghost of Jim Morrison in the Hollywood Hills. It's flawed, overblown, and probably inaccurate, but is it...genuine in its own weird, fucked-up way? Ultimately, it's one of those movies I can't definitively say is 'good'. But forget "good." It's unsettling, fascinating, and sticks with you. If you haven't seen it, or haven't seen it in a while, give it another shot, but turn the lights down low and be ready to believe in something a little bit spooky. You just might see what I mean. Or I'm just crazy. Could go either way at this point. Night!
