Just watched "The Doors" (1991)...whoa 🤯
Okay, so I finally got around to watching "The Doors" from '91. I knew basically nothing about the band other than like, "Light My Fire" being super iconic. Had no clue what I was in for, honestly. Like, this Jim Morrison dude?? WILD. Val Kilmer was INSANE, by the way. I think I read it was directed by Oliver Stone but not 100% sure, I'm still trying to find all the movie's credits. Some of the stuff in this movie was seriously messed up. The whole desert acid trip thing was kinda creepy, especially with the Native American visions. I wasn't sure what to make of that. And the concert scenes? Kilmer channels Morrison in a way that is almost scary how good it is. When he climbs on the scaffolding during that Detroit concert and is shouting at the audience... insane. The music is obviously awesome, but the story is just intense. It's not a feel-good movie AT ALL. But, I think, I get the appeal of this band a lot more now. I did get a little lost in the middle with all the poetry stuff? I'm not sure I always understood what Morrison was going on about. But the ending was super sad. It was so fast, and then it was over. Anyways, curious what other people thought of this. Do you think Kilmer was too over-the-top, or was he spot-on? What's your favorite song from the band? Drop some recommendations, maybe other movies about rock bands that hit this hard. I feel like diving deeper now!
