Obsessed with Diane Keaton's style in Father of the Bride!
Okay, so I just re-watched Father of the Bride (1991) and while the whole 'dad freaking out about his daughter growing up' thing is relatable on some level (even though I'm nowhere NEAR getting married lol), I was honestly mostly paying attention to the clothes. Diane Keaton is a QUEEN, and her outfits in this movie are just chef's kiss. Like, that white suit she wears to the wedding planning meeting? Iconic. I need it in my life. Immediately. And let's talk about Annie's wedding dress! It's so classic and elegant, but also feels very "90s does classic." Absolutely perfect for her, and I love how it wasn't some crazy over-the-top thing. It felt real, you know? (Unlike half the dresses they show on Say Yes to the Dress, let's be real). I also appreciated how the film showed the class differences through the clothing. The Banks family is clearly comfortable but not flashy, while Bryan's family definitely has that old money sophisticated vibe in how they dress - subtle but definitely there. It adds to the overall narrative without being too on-the-nose about it. Anyone else notice/appreciate this? Or am I just a crazy fashion person? haha Overall, a cute movie, but the fashion is what keeps me coming back. BRB, gonna go search for a dupe of that white suit...
