"White Fang" Throwback - Anyone Else Cry?

Okay, so last night Sarah suggested we watch "White Fang" (the 1991 one) and OMG the FEELS. I hadn't seen it since I was a kid, and I forgot how much of a rollercoaster it is! Ethan Hawke is adorable, I have to say. He plays Jack Conroy pretty well - you really believe he cares about the dog. I mean, White Fang himself is the real star, obviously. Did anyone else just want to hug him the whole time? Especially when that awful Beauty Smith (what a name, right?) was being such a jerk. Seriously, that part was hard to watch. Speaking of hard to watch, the dog fighting scenes were definitely rough. I know it's a story about the wild and survival, but ugh, still makes you cringe. I had to look away a few times. But then, when Jack finally rescues White Fang and starts to earn his trust, it's SO rewarding. I love how patient he is, and the scene where White Fang finally starts playing with him? Waterworks! I'm such a sap. I think what really got to me was how White Fang went from totally distrustful and aggressive to loyal and playful. I also low-key loved the scenery. The Yukon looks gorgeous, even if it seems brutally cold (I'd never survive!). Side note, I really need a rugged coat like Jack has. Anyway, it was a good pick, Sarah! Definitely a nostalgic trip. It's not, like, the best movie ever made obviously, but it's a solid adventure story with a heartwarming (and heartbreaking) animal friendship at its core. Anyone else have strong "White Fang" opinions? Am I the only one who gets emotional over animal movies? Spill!
