Lord Slug: Underrated Gem or Missed Potential?

Okay, fellow Saiyan fanatics! KevinMovies here, back with another DBZ movie deep dive. This time, it's Lord Slug. I gotta be honest, this one's always been a bit of a head-scratcher for me. On one hand, Slug is a genuinely creepy villain. That whole transformation where he goes all demonic-looking? Nightmare fuel! And the concept of a Super Namekian just showing up out of nowhere is kinda cool from a world-building perspective. Like, how many other crazy strong Namekians are just chilling out in the universe? But then... the execution feels kinda flat. The fight scenes are okay, but nothing groundbreaking, especially compared to some of the later Z movies. And the whole 'Piccolo hearing Slug's call' thing felt a bit forced, didn't it? Like they needed an easy way to explain why Piccolo wasn't immediately kicking ass. Plus, the ending… Genki Dama powered by whistling? Seriously? That felt so random compared to the usual build-up and emotion. So, here's my question for you guys: Do you think Lord Slug had the potential to be something more? Was the base concept strong enough to carry the movie, or was it ultimately let down by the directing and plot? Maybe if they explored the Super Namekian thing more, or gave Vegeta something more interesting to do than just getting his butt kicked...what are your thoughts? I'm especially interested in hearing from anyone who's got some headcanon about where Slug came from or what makes Super Namekians so different. Hit me up with your theories!
