New Jack City: Am I My Brother's Keeper? Still Holds Up

Alright alright alright, let's talk New Jack City. Classic, right? Straight up, Nino Brown is one of the most quotable villains ever. "Am I my brother's keeper?" chills! Wesley Snipes killed that role. You honestly kinda hate to love him, but you just hate him. Ice-T as Scotty Appleton was stone cold too, you know he was legit trying to do good in a world gone wild with the crack epidemic. And Chris Rock? Pookie was gut-wrenching but showed the real impact of the product Nino was pushing. I remember seeing this when I was way too young, haha. But even then, the style just grabbed you. The clothes, the music... everything felt so real and raw. That shootout in the Carter... bruh! Still intense. Plus, watching Mario Van Peebles direct and act? The man has range. It's not a perfect film, some of the acting is a little over the top in spots, you know? But overall, it's a powerful message, and a damn good time. One thing I always think about is how Scotty had to go dark to fight the dark. Kind of makes you wonder, does the end always justify the means? He had to get strung out. It was a wild ride. And the ending? When Nino finally gets his... the courtroom scene? Chills. "Sit your five dollar ass down before I make change!" So yeah, New Jack City. Still worth a watch (or a re-watch) even now. It's got the action, the drama, and some lines that'll be stuck in your head for days. What's everyone else think? Favorite scene? Hit me.
