The Hard Way: Nick Lang is Actually the Criminal?! Hear me out...

Okay, guys, I just rewatched "The Hard Way" with Liam and Sarah last night (movie night tradition!), and I had a crazy thought. What if Nick Lang (Michael J. Fox) isn't just an annoying, method-acting actor, but is actually subconsciously creating the Smiling Face killer?! Think about it. He's desperate for authenticity, right? He's shadowing Brix and getting in the way, but everything gets so much more intense when he's around. Like, is it just a coincidence that the killer's activity ramps up when Nick is tailing Brix?? The whole 'research' thing could be a cleverly disguised way for him to, like, act out his own twisted version of reality. Maybe he's not physically the killer, but he's psychologically fueling the chaos. He wants to understand the criminal mind so badly, maybe he's accidentally becoming it! And, the whole 'making a movie' thing is kinda perfect cover, ya know? Everyone just sees him as a goofy actor who's trying too hard. But it's like the ultimate form of method acting - he needs the real deal to feel the role. I know its far fetched, but what if Nick's influence makes the REAL killer do the deeds, indirectly making HIM the killer? I know there are plot holes, but come on! You see any evidence in the movie that it ISN'T him? Maybe I'm overthinking it (Liam definitely thinks I am), but the movie IS a little 'meta', so maybe the writers intended us to think about the role of the actor, and art, and the impact that has on real life. Just a thought! What does everyone else think? Am I totally off my rocker?
