Bugsy - Warren Beatty Being a Hot Mess (and I'm here for it)

Okay, so we finally watched Bugsy last night. I'd heard it was good, but honestly, I mostly just wanted to see Warren Beatty in a fedora and losing his mind, lol. And boy, did it deliver! He plays Bugsy Siegel as this total loose cannon – charming one minute, screaming at someone the next. That scene where he's practicing his acting and just randomly fires his gun at the wall? Iconic. My friend Sarah actually jumped, it was so sudden. Annette Bening is AMAZING as Virginia Hill. She's got this perfect mix of glam and street smarts that just clicks. Their chemistry is insane, even when they're arguing and throwing insults. I totally bought that they were both completely messed up people completely obsessed with each other. The whole thing with building Vegas felt a bit rushed, though. Like one minute he's having a dream about it, the next he's got shovels in the ground. Could have used a little more development there, IMO. I didn't know much about Bugsy Siegel going in, but now I'm weirdly fascinated. The fact that he really thought he was going to be a movie star is hilarious and sad all at the same time. Overall, I really enjoyed it. Definitely a good gangster flick if you're into that kind of thing. And especially if you're into Warren Beatty being, well, Warren Beatty. ;) Anyone else seen it? What did you think? Was anyone else distracted by how good Harvey Keitel was at screaming?? Seriously, guy's got range!
