Bugsy - Underappreciated? Anyone else think so?

Okay, so I just rewatched "Bugsy" (1991), and I'm still scratching my head as to why it's not talked about more. Warren Beatty is phenomenal, obviously, but Annette Bening is equally captivating as Virginia Hill. Their chemistry is electric and, honestly, a little terrifying. They really captured that volatile, passionate, and destructive side of love, you know? I'm particularly interested in everyone's thoughts on the movie's depiction of Bugsy's vision for Las Vegas. His obsessive pursuit of that dream, despite the obvious risks and the blatant disapproval from his mobster associates, it’s kind of mesmerizing. Did you buy into his idea of what Vegas could be? Or did you see him as just a delusional, power-hungry gangster? That scene where he's staring at the empty desert, imagining the Flamingo, and the music swells... gives me chills! And speaking of music, the score is so lush and romantic, it almost glorifies the violence. Is that intentional? Does it make you question the morality of the film? I am always a sucker for a good score and this one is top tier! Also, random thought: did anyone else get the sense that Mickey Cohen (played by Harvey Keitel) was low-key terrified of Bugsy? He's such a tough guy in other movies, but there was something about Keitel's performance that suggested he knew Bugsy was a completely different breed of crazy. Curious to hear your thoughts! Maybe I’m over analyzing, lol.
