Ricochet: Denzel Washington vs. John Lithgow... Um, wow?

Okay, so I just finished watching Ricochet (1991) and I am shook. I knew Denzel was amazing, I mean, obviously, but Lithgow? I've always seen him as like, the goofy dad in Third Rock From the Sun. But as Earl Talbot Blake? Straight up terrifying. Like, truly unsettling. The way he manipulated everything was just... ugh. I had to pause it a few times because I was getting too stressed! There's this scene where he's like, whispering to Nick Styles (Denzel) in prison, promising revenge, and the intensity radiating off Lithgow was insane. And then, years later, when he starts systematically destroying Nick's life? I felt so bad for Denzel's character! The whole being drugged and set up thing just made me angry. I was rooting for him so hard to get his life back. I think the part that got me the most was the look on his face when he realized who was behind it all and that he was no match for Blake. Gut wrenching. Honestly, it's a bit of a crazy movie at times, and maybe a little over-the-top, but Lithgow's performance elevates it. I had no idea he had that darkness in him! It was a wild ride, and I'm gonna need something light and fluffy now to recover. Did anyone else find this movie as disturbing as I did? What were your thoughts, especially on Lithgow? Seriously, I'm still processing. P.S. - Also, Ice T is in it! I almost forgot! It's a bit part, but still, cool (no pun intended).
