Soapdish! Celeste Talbert Did WHAT?!
Okay, so I watched "Soapdish" the other night. I know, I know, not exactly my usual fare (give me a good explosion over witty banter any day), but my mom was watching it and honestly, I got sucked in. What even WAS that movie?! I mean, Sally Field is hilarious as Celeste, but Montana Moorehead (Cathy Moriarty) is next level crazy. The whole plot to sabotage her on the show? C'mon, that's some real dedication to being a jerk. But here's what I gotta know from y'all: That scene where she fakes amnesia and then tries to off herself with the prop gun? Was that QUITE the stretch, even for a soap opera parody? And honestly, Robert Downey Jr. trying to direct it all while clearly being coked out of his mind? Priceless. Seriously though, did anyone else catch the subtle digs at the whole daytime TV thing? It felt like they were REALLY laying into the actors and writers, but in a funny way. I'm just curious if anyone else thought the attempted drowning scene was as ridiculously over the top as I did. My mom was CRYING laughing. Maybe I just need more rom-coms in my life, ha! Anyway, let me know your thoughts. PS - Anyone know who directed it? Mom wouldn't tell me and I'm too lazy to look it up rn.
