Sometimes They Come Back (1991) - Is this cheesy 90s horror actually good?

Okay, so I just rewatched 'Sometimes They Come Back' (the 1991 one, obvi), and I gotta say, it's way more fun than I remembered! I mean, yeah, it's got that super cheesy 90s vibe, the hair, the clothes, all that stuff – peak nostalgic goodness. But beneath the surface, there's actually a pretty decent story about trauma and facing your demons... literally, lol. For those who haven't seen it, it's about this guy, Jim, who moves back to his hometown (where his brother got offed by greaser bullies back in the day) to teach. Then, whaddya know, the bullies start coming back from the dead. Talk about bad luck, right? The leader, Richard Lawson? Total psychopath, but in a super campy, enjoyable way. The scene where he's torturing that one kid with cigarettes? Whoa! Kinda messed up, but also kinda iconic. And Tim Matheson? Underrated actor, legit. He really sells the whole haunted-by-the-past thing. I know it's not gonna win any awards, and the effects are kinda dated (especially the demonic bus!), but there's something genuinely creepy about it. Plus, the ending? Satisfyingly dark. I think what makes it work is that it's not trying to be anything it's not. It's pure, unadulterated 90s horror cheese, and I'm here for it. Anyone else have a soft spot for this one? Or am I just blinded by nostalgia? Let me know your thoughts. Also if anyone knows the director, tell me cuz I can't find anything about it!
