Home Alone 2 - Underrated or Overrated Horror??? 🗽😱
Okay horror hounds, JessMovieNerd here with a question that's been bugging me for YEARS. Hear me out...is Home Alone 2: Lost in New York secretly a horror movie disguised as a family Christmas comedy? I know, I know, weird question, but seriously think about it! Little kid...completely alone...in freakin' New York City...hunted by two seriously deranged burglars. That's prime slasher movie material, right? I'm ESPECIALLY thinking about the scenes in that abandoned building. The pigeon lady is unsettling enough, but the way Harry and Marv stalk Kevin through those dusty, echoing hallways? Gives me MAJOR anxiety. The traps are even more brutal than in the first movie – electrocution, blowtorches, falling bricks… these guys aren't just trying to steal some cash, they want to inflict serious pain! And let's be real, Tim Curry's character is low-key terrifying. The way he's suspicious of kevin the whole time is low key terrifying! Am I the only one who finds this movie way darker than its reputation suggests? I'm not saying it's The Exorcist or anything, but I think it's more than just a silly Christmas romp. Maybe it's just the way they cranked up the violence in the sequel, or because the stakes feel higher with Kevin being in a HUGE city with way more baddies roaming around. Is it actually a horror movies for kids and we didn't know it? So, hit me with your thoughts! Am I reaching, or is Home Alone 2 a legitimately creepy movie that deserves a place in the horror movie hall of fame... or at least in a subgenre? Maybe "Christmas Horror-ish", lol. Also, who do you think is a scarier villain, Harry or Marv?
