A Few Good Men: Jack Nicholson... Intimidating or What?!
Okay, so I finally got around to watching "A Few Good Men." I know, I'm late to the party. But seriously, wow. The courtroom scenes were so intense, especially anything with Jack Nicholson (Col. Jessup). Like, you can practically FEEL the power radiating off him. I'm wondering what other people thought about his performance? Was it a bit too over-the-top, or did it work for the character? I'm leaning towards it working, because the guy had to be intimidating to have that kind of control over his unit... but sometimes I wondered. And speaking of performances, Demi Moore (Galloway) was great too. I liked how she played the determined, almost driven lawyer. It felt like she genuinely cared about the case, even when (let's be real) Kaffee was being a total slacker. I kinda wish they'd explored her character a bit more, though. Like, what made her so focused? Did anyone else feel that way? Also, quick and slightly off-topic observation: Tom Cruise's character development throughout the movie was really well done because it wasn't totally obvious. He didn't just suddenly become a serious, dedicated lawyer, it was gradual. The subtle changes made the performance really shine for me. Thoughts? And just one last thing (sorry for rambling!), did anyone else find the ending a bit... abrupt? It felt like they wrapped things up a little too quickly after "You can't handle the truth!" Like, give us a little more fallout, people! But overall, really engaging classic. Would love to hear your takes.
