Scent of a Woman - Pacino GOAT Performance? Thoughts?
Okay, so I just rewatched "Scent of a Woman" and Pacino is seriously on another level. Like, I know he's Pacino, duh, but this role is just... chef's kiss. The whole movie is good, don't get me wrong, especially young Chris O'Donnell (total heartthrob alert!), but Pacino's performance as Lt. Col. Frank Slade is what really makes this film stick. I mean, the "Hoo-ah!" alone is iconic, but it’s more than that, right? He brings so much depth and vulnerability to a character who's supposed to be this grumpy, blind dude. What really gets me is the tango scene. Like, he's BLIND but he leads her perfectly, and it's just so damn beautiful and powerful. It feels so authentic, you know? And then there's the prep school speech at the end. Chills. Literal chills. I get that it's kinda cheesy, but it still hits so hard. The whole "when the bough breaks, the cradle will fall" speech is just fire. So my question is, do you guys think this is Pacino's BEST performance? I know he's got a bunch of other amazing roles (Scarface, Godfather, obvs), but something about this one feels different. More nuanced, maybe?? Or am I just being overly dramatic because I just watched a 3 hour movie lol? Let me know what you think! Oh, and also, anyone know who directed this? Can't seem to find it easy. Maybe I'm just bad at Google. lol
