Army of Darkness: Is Ash Secretly... Evil?

Okay, so I just re-watched Army of Darkness (again, lol) and I had a THOUGHT. We all love Ash, right? The wisecracking, chainsaw-handed dude who's just trying to get back to his own time? But... is he really the good guy? Hear me out. Think about it. He messes up the magic words, unleashing the Army of Darkness in the first place. Sure, it was an accident, but he was being cocky! Then, throughout the movie, he's constantly making bad decisions and generally being a jerk (even to Sheila, who's clearly into him!). Remember when he's pretending to be this all-powerful leader in front of the villagers? It's all based on lies and a whole lotta ego. My theory is that Ash isn't some hero accidentally flung back in time. Maybe he was destined to bring about the apocalypse. Like, his bravado and selfishness cause all the problems. He's a chaos agent disguised as a hero. The whole 'good Ash/evil Ash' fight kinda supports this, right? It's like his inner evil trying to take over. And the ending, where he totally screws up again and wakes up in a post-apocalyptic future? I think that's less of a mistake and more of destiny, maybe? Just a thought I had, let me know what you think!
