Honey, I Blew Up the Kid: Okay, But Hear Me Out...
Alright guys, so I finally got around to watching "Honey, I Blew Up the Kid." I know, I know, I'm way behind on the classics lol. First off, the title is just... chef's kiss. But something struck me while I was watching it, and I haven't seen anyone else mention it. The whole premise hinges on baby Adam getting zapped by the growth ray, right? And he grows based on electrical surges. But what if... what if the real problem isn't the ray itself, but Adam specifically? Like, what if he's somehow naturally receptive to that kind of energy? Think about it: we see Wayne messing with the machine throughout the film. Other objects are affected, sure, but nothing grows to giant monster proportions. It's ONLY Adam. Maybe there's some weird genetic thing going on, making him a walking antenna for size-altering energy. You could almost make a sequel out of that, explore his family history, see if he's got some distant relative who was a giant or something, lol. It would be kinda cool if they explored that. And another thought: the whole movie is set in Vegas, which is practically drowning in electricity from the neon lights to the casinos. That probably amplifies the effect. If they'd been in, like, a deserted forest, would Adam still have grown so exponentially? Probably, but maybe not as much? You know, it's a thought. Anyway, overall I thought it was pretty decent. Definitely not as good as some of the other stuff I've been watching lately, but still a fun ride. A bit silly if I am being honest but it definitely had me hooked. What do you guys think about my theory? Am I reaching here, or is there something to it?
