Okay, I Watched Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot...I Have Thoughts
So, okay, I finally caved and watched "Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot" (I know, I'm late to the party!). And honestly? I'm just...confused mixed with a sprinkle of secondhand embarrassment for Stallone. Like, I understand the concept - overbearing mom meets tough-guy cop - but the execution just??? The machine gun scene literally made me facepalm. Who DOES that?! Mom, no, just no. Estelle Getty was, as always, a treasure. She really tried, bless her heart, to make that character work. But I think the writing just let her down. Like, the part where she's 'cleaning' his gun and almost blows his head off? I get it's supposed to be funny, but it just made me anxious! Did anyone else actually find that legitimately funny or was it just me cringing the whole time? I guess my biggest question is: was this movie SUPPOSED to be so bad? Like, is it a "so bad it's good" kind of thing? Because honestly, the only feeling I walked away with was a deep, unshakeable need to apologize to Stallone for whatever choices led him to making this movie. And also, a slight headache. Tell me I'm not alone in feeling this. Please!
