OMG 'Of Mice and Men' just BROKE me ðŸ˜
Okay, so I just finished watching the 1992 version of 'Of Mice and Men' and I'm a MESS. Seriously, I knew going in that it was gonna be sad, because, like, iconic sad story, right? But I was NOT prepared for how much it would actually HURT. John Malkovich as Lennie was just... chef's kiss. Absolutely heartbreaking. The way he just wanted to pet the rabbits and didn't understand his own strength? I was ugly crying, I'm not even kidding! Like, full-on snot and everything. And Gary Sinise as George... Ugh, my heart! You could just see the love he had for Lennie, even though Lennie was also a HUGE handful. That scene at the end, you know the one, when he's telling Lennie about the farm and the rabbits, and then... I just... sobs. I had to pause it and grab more tissues. The whole theme of dreams just out of reach, especially during that time period, just hits so hard. I know it's a pretty old movie, but if you haven't seen it and you're in the mood for a good cry (and maybe a therapy session afterward, LOL), definitely give it a watch. Okay, I do think they could have given Curley's wife maybe a liiiitle bit more depth? Like, I get she was lonely and stuff, but she felt kinda one-dimensional. But honestly, that didn't take away from the overall emotional impact. I'm gonna go hug my cat now and try to stop feeling so depressed. Anyone else seen it? What did you guys think? Maybe we can cry together in the comments? ðŸ˜
