Toys (1992): Still Weird, Still Love It (Maybe?)

Okay, so I just rewatched "Toys" with my kids. Remember that Robin Williams movie? Man, it's...a lot. Like, even I was scratching my head at parts, and I remembered it vaguely from when I was a kid. The visuals are still stunning, all that bright color and the crazy set design. Seriously, who thought up that upside-down room scene? That was pure genius and had my youngest absolutely mesmerized. And Robin Williams as Leslie Zevo is just...Robin Williams being Robin Williams. You either love it or hate it, I guess. I personally think he's hilarious in the role. But the plot. Good grief. It's so bizarre! The whole thing with the General trying to use the toy factory to build war machines? It's a little heavy for a kids' movie, even now. And honestly, the ending felt kind of rushed? I was expecting a little more fanfare for defeating Uncle Leland. However, the music is still absolute gold, though. The Trevor Horn soundtrack is so good, it makes the whole movie better. The kids were mostly entertained, although I think my older one was a bit confused and my youngest was mostly just happy to see bright colors and hear silly music. I still have a weird soft spot for this movie, even though it's objectively kind of a mess. Maybe it's the nostalgia? Or maybe it's just that there's nothing else quite like it. Anyone else still watch "Toys"? What do you think?
