Okay, hear me out... "Toys" (1992) - So weird it's almost good?

Alright, rom-com lovers, I'm venturing OFF-brand today. I just rewatched "Toys" with Robin Williams and, wow, where do I even BEGIN? It's... a lot. Visually, it's like a candy-colored fever dream. The costumes, the sets, the everything... it's sensory overload. Like, who thought it was a good idea to have Robin Williams prance around in so much primary-colored clothing? Also, Joan Cusack's performance as his sister, Alsatia, is honestly some of the most bizarre acting choices I've ever witnessed. I honestly don't know if its a testament to a flawed script or if she truly understood, but I love her character. But here's the thing: under all the chaos, there's this commentary about war and the innocence of childhood. I think that’s what the movie was trying to say? I'm also pretty sure that I've never been so confused by a movie plot. Like, the General wants to turn the toy factory into a military facility?? The whole thing is just bonkers, but the absurdity kinda reels you in. There's also some really great physical comedy and some genuinely sweet moments between Leslie (Robin Williams) and Alsatia. Maybe I'm just feeling nostalgic, but I found myself strangely endeared to its wackiness. It's definitely not a GOOD movie in the traditional sense... it's too long, it's tonally all over the place, and the story is convoluted. But if you're looking for something that's completely out there and will leave you scratching your head while also making you kinda smile, give "Toys" a shot. Just don't expect a masterpiece, and maybe keep some headache medication handy. Thoughts, anyone? Am I the only one who finds this movie strangely compelling, or am I completely losing it? Let me know in the comments!
