Police Story 3: Supercop - Okay, but is Michelle Yeoh secretly a Terminator?
Alright, sci-fi nerds and action junkies, KevinMovies here. I just re-watched Police Story 3: Supercop, and while it's not strictly sci-fi, the sheer physics-defying stunts gotta mean Michelle Yeoh is powered by some hidden cybernetics, right? I mean, seriously, that motorcycle jump onto the moving train? That HAS to be some experimental Red Chinese tech underneath those clothes. I'm only half-kidding! Beyond my crazy theorizing, I'm genuinely curious what people think of the world-building in this one. It's not like, sprawling empires and alien species, but the glimpse into the Chinese drug trade and the Hong Kong/China police dynamic is fascinating. That scene where Jackie Chan's character has to basically earn the trust of the Chinese cops (led by Yeoh) through sheer bravery felt really significant. Did anyone else pick up on that tension between cultural differences and shared goals? And the way they use different tactics in the field? It felt almost like a microcosm of different worldviews clashing and eventually finding common ground. And speaking of Michelle Yeoh, wow. She out-Jackie-Chans Jackie Chan in this movie, doesn't she? I'm pretty sure she's doing more of the really insane death-defying stunts with less insurance involved, haha! I have mad respect, she's the best! Also, this is before she became, IMO, a top-tier actress, I thought she was a diamond in the rough, what about you folks? So, am I the only one who gets serious 'enhanced human' vibes from Michelle Yeoh's character, or am I just projecting my sci-fi obsession onto a really great action flick? And what are your thoughts on the cross-cultural aspect of the story? Let me know!
