"3 Ninjas" Deep Dive: Was Grandpa REALLY THAT Chill?

Okay, so I just watched "3 Ninjas" (1992) for the first time ever. I know, I'm late to the party. I went in expecting...well, I honestly didn't know what to expect other than some karate kids kicking butt. And yeah, it delivered on that front, no doubt. But something's been bugging me since the credits rolled: Grandpa Mori. Dude's got this super zen vibe going the whole movie, but… is it a façade? Like, a really good one? Hear me out. We see him training the boys, obviously a master of ninjutsu or whatever, but then he’s just…baking cookies, giving life lessons, and generally acting like the most laid-back grandpa ever. But then think about it. He KNOWS the bad guys are coming. He's got this whole 'patience is a virtue' thing happening, but is he secretly PSYCHED to unleash his grandsons on these doofuses? The scene where he calmly sips tea while the boys are LITERALLY fighting for their lives just felt…off. Maybe I'm reading way too much into it, but I think Grandpa Mori is playing 4D chess. He's totally manipulating everything to give the boys a 'real world' training experience. And another thing...why SUCH a nice house? It had to have been expensive to build, especially with the view! That's a lot of dough for a retired...ninja? I suppose he could have invested his money wisely, but you never see him struggle with anything. It is a kid's movie though. Maybe I am looking too deep into this one...Anyway, what do you guys think? Am I onto something, or am I just projecting my own weird grandpa theories onto a 90s classic? Just a random thought: I was watching another older movie and a car blew up! I think I'm going to watch that one next.
