School Ties: Was Dillon a closet admirer? Hear me out...

Okay, so I just finished watching "School Ties" again, and man, this movie is just... it hits different every time. Like, I always focus on Brendan Fraser's character, David Greene, and the whole pressure he's under to hide his Jewish identity. Total garbage situation, right? But this time, I couldn't stop thinking about Chris O'Donnell's character, Chris Reese, and especially Matt Damon's Dillon-- that dude was straight up vile. BUT... and this is where my late-night brain is going... what if some of Dillon's hate was like...rooted in something else? Maybe admiration, even? Think about it. Greene comes in, instantly star quarterback, gets all the attention. Dillon is basically threatened. And Dillon always seemed obsessed with Greene, even after he exposed him. He couldn't just let it go. And the whole thing with the 'cheating' scandal? I mean, Dillon made it personal, way beyond just getting kicked out. I KNOW, I KNOW, it's a total reach. And Dillon is still a massive jerk regardless. But could some of that antisemitism, at least for Dillion, been mixed up with some twisted form of jealousy or grudging respect? I'm not excusing anything, just throwing it out there as a weird theory. Maybe I'm just projecting my own weird late-night movie thoughts, haha. Anyway, someone tell me I'm not crazy, or that I am, and why. Also, am I the only one who thinks that the ending was a little too neat? Like, everyone learns their lesson in five minutes? But still, a solid watch. What do y'all think?
