Poison Ivy - Okay, I have thoughts!

Okay, friends, we just finished watching "Poison Ivy" (the Drew Barrymore one from '92), and...wow. Just wow. I knew it was gonna be a little trashy, but it was definitely a ride. Like, Ivy is NEXT LEVEL manipulative. The scene where she's basically seducing Sylvie's dad while Sylvie is right there drawing? Cringe! But also, I kinda get it? Sylvie's family is so messed up, and Ivy just rolls in and spots all the cracks immediately. I'm not gonna lie, Drew Barrymore is mesmerizing in this. She's got this whole innocent-yet-dangerous thing down. I actually felt kinda bad for Sylvie, even though she was kinda boring. I mean, her best friend decides to bang her dad and try to kill her mom? Yikes! And the ending? Holy crap, I did not expect that ending! The house fire scene was intense. I'm not sure if it was "good" exactly, but I was definitely entertained. One thing that bugged me though: Did anyone else think the dad was kinda creepy? He was way too easily influenced. And the mom was just checked out the whole time. It's like Ivy just walked into a perfect storm of dysfunction. Honestly, the parents were just as much to blame for everything that happened as Ivy was. Maybe more! So, overall: wild ride, Drew is captivating, and the parents are awful. What did you guys think? Did anyone else find themselves low-key rooting for Ivy at, like, some point? Don't judge me! 😅
