Batman Forever: Campy Chaos or Underrated Gem?

Okay, so I just re-watched "Batman Forever" after YEARS, and wow, it's even more… something… than I remembered. As someone who usually gravitates towards, shall we say, slightly more sophisticated cinema (Kaurismäki, anyone?), this one definitely stands out in my DC movie viewing history. It's just SO bright and over-the-top! Like, neon Gotham? Seriously? But here's the thing: I weirdly enjoyed it. Jim Carrey as the Riddler is just pure, unadulterated chaos, and honestly, he's mesmerizing. Tommy Lee Jones as Two-Face? A little less convincing maybe, but the sheer camp of it all is kind of infectious. I mean, the scene where he's flipping the coin to decide whether to kill Chase Meridian? So theatrical! Even Val Kilmer, who I normally find a little bland, seemed to be having fun in the suit. I think what I appreciate most is that it's not trying to be all dark and gritty like some of the more recent Batman iterations. It's embracing its comic book roots in a way that's almost… celebratory? And Nicole Kidman? Goddess. That red dress scene? chef's kiss. Anyway, I'm curious what everyone else thinks. Does the campiness ruin it for you, or is it part of the charm? Are we sleeping on this one a little bit? I'm open to hearing all opinions (even the ones that disagree with my new-found appreciation!). Let's discuss!
