Was Kara Strode's Style Sleepwalking Cute or Just...Sleepwalking?
Okay, spooky season is officially HERE, and I'm diving headfirst into rewatches. Last night was 'Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers' (yes, the one with Paul Rudd!). I know it's got...mixed reviews, to say the least, but I always find myself drawn back, and not just because of the whole Thorn cult plot (which, let's be real, is kinda bonkers). I'm always looking at the clothes. Specifically, I'm wondering about Kara Strode's whole aesthetic. She's Laurie's niece, stuck in this dreary, rundown house, and her wardrobe seems to reflect that. Lots of oversized sweaters, unflattering jeans... like, girl, I get you're repressed, but come on. There's a scene where she's wearing this gigantic cable-knit thing, and it's supposed to look all 'innocent victim' but honestly, it just looks like she pulled it from the lost and found at a middle school. And then Jamie, with her 90s kid style, had much better outfits. So, tell me I'm not crazy! Was Kara's drab style intentional, to emphasize her vulnerability and the whole 'cursed family' thing? Or was it just a case of 90s fashion being…well, a little uneven? I guess maybe because its mostly set at night, they didnt focus on the costume as much. What do you guys think? Did anyone else actually LIKE her looks…or am I alone in thinking she needed a serious style intervention before Michael showed up?
