OMG, The Mummy (1999) Still Holds Up!

Okay, so I re-watched "The Mummy" (the Brendan Fraser one, duh!) last night and I'm STILL obsessed. I know, I know, it's cheesy, but that's part of the charm, right? I honestly don't even care who directed it, all I know is they nailed the fun factor. The scene where Imhotep finally sucks the life out of that American dude and regenerates? So freaky and awesome at the same time! And Evelyn (Rachel Weisz) is seriously the best. She's smart, clumsy in a cute way, and totally holds her own against all the undead stuff. Plus, the romantic tension with Rick? Chef's kiss. I was shipping them HARD even as a kid. My one minor gripe is maybe Jonathan (Evelyn's brother) is a little too goofy sometimes, but he provides some comic relief when the scarabs are crawling everywhere. And can we talk about the special effects? For a movie that came out in 1999, they actually look pretty good! Like, the sandstorm with Imhotep's face in it? Iconic. Seriously, if you're looking for a good adventure movie with some scares and a lot of laughs, give "The Mummy" a try. I'm convinced it's impossible to not have a good time watching it. I should probably watch the sequels again soon now, haha!
