Okay, "A Dog's Will" -- WHAT did I just watch?! (Seriously)

So, I'm trying to broaden my horizons, ya know? Step away from the Marvel movies for a sec. Heard about "A Dog's Will" (Auto da Compadecida) and dove in blind. First of all, wow. I wasn't expecting any of that, lol. The whole thing felt like a fever dream dipped in folklore and sprinkled with dark humor. I’m honestly still processing. João Grilo and Chicó were hysterical! I loved how even though they were constantly scheming, you still kinda rooted for them. That whole sequence in 'heaven' with Christ and the Devil arguing over their fate was INSANE. And the accents! I had subtitles on, but even then, I felt like I was missing half the jokes because of the slang. Did anyone else struggle with that, or is it just me being culturally clueless? Here’s the thing that’s got me though: was the ending… happy? Like, they get a second chance, but they're still kinda the same hustlers, right? Is the point that they'll never really change, or that even flawed people deserve grace? I’m honestly not sure. Anyone else seen this? What did you make of the whole 'dog's will' thing, too? That was just the cherry on top of a very weird, but very enjoyable, sundae. I'm curious to hear other people's takes! Is there anything similar I should check out?
