Y Tu Mamá También - Remind anyone else of 'The Graduate'?

Okay, so I finally got around to watching "Y Tu Mamá También". Damn. I gotta say, it stuck with me. The whole thing, with Julio and Tenoch, these two horny teenage dudes, and Luisa, the older woman... it felt kinda familiar. Am I crazy, or does this have shades of "The Graduate"? I mean, not exactly, because this is Mexico and way more… real, but still. The May-December situation, the aimlessness of youth, the feeling of being lost and searching for something... it's there, right? Or am I just old and seeing things? What really got me was how raw it was. Ben Stiller could never, you know? No offense to Ben (I dig "Reality Bites"), but the emotions in "Y Tu Mamá También" felt like a punch in the gut. And the narration! That voiceover telling you the little details about everyone's lives – almost felt like peaking into their diaries. The scene in the car when they start confessing stuff… holy crap. So much unspoken tension! But damn, it felt like I knew those characters, even if I didn't always like them. Luisa's character arc was fascinating, too. At first, you think she's just this bored housewife looking for some excitement, but there's so much more going on underneath. Did anyone else feel incredibly sad for her? Like, she knew her time was limited and she was just trying to grab whatever happiness she could find, even if it was messy and complicated. I think that's why the end hit me so hard; you realize how little time we have and how fast everything, esp. youth and health, fades away. Anyway, I'm curious if anyone else picked up on the "Graduate" vibes, or maybe I'm making a totally Gen X connection that's not really there. And what did you guys think of the ending? Did it feel earned, or did it come out of the left field? Let me know your thoughts – I'm still processing this one!
