Okay, "Holes" Actually Kinda Slaps...
So, I finally got around to watching "Holes" (2003) the other night. I know, I'm super late to the party, but I've been trying to catch up on classics I missed as a kid. I knew basically nothing going in except that Shia LaBeouf was in it (lol) and that it involved digging... holes. I thought it was gonna be some preachy, boring movie, but honestly, I was way more into it than I expected. The whole Camp Green Lake thing was creepy af, especially with Mr. Sir's whole vibe. And Zero? Dude was a total mystery, but I was rooting for him the whole time. I gotta say, the flashbacks were really well done too! Connecting Stanley's curse to his great-great-grandfather felt organic, not just thrown in. That whole story about Madame Zeroni was wild. I almost shed a tear when they finally got back up the mountain. I wasn't totally sold on the whole treasure thing at first, but the ending was actually pretty satisfying. Like, everything just came together in a way that made sense. It wasn't overly cheesy or anything. I'm not gonna say it's the best movie ever, but it was definitely a fun watch and had way more depth than I was expecting. I'm kinda mad I didn't watch this when I was younger, tbh. Anyone else slept on this one like I did? Worth a rewatch, do you think?
