40 Year Old Virgin: Still Holds Up (Especially the Chest Waxing Scene!)

Alright folks, dkim_films here. Just re-watched "The 40 Year Old Virgin" last night. It's been a while, and honestly, I was surprised how funny it still is. I mean, yeah, some of the jokes are dated (early 2000s humor, what can you do?), but the core of the movie – Andy's awkwardness and his friends' desperate attempts to, uh, 'help' him – is timeless. It's a great study of male bonding (or the sometimes-cringey portrayal of it, anyway). Technically speaking, nothing blew me away, of course. It's a comedy, not a visual effects extravaganza. But I did notice the clever use of editing and sound design during the infamous chest waxing scene. Seriously, that scene is a masterpiece of comedic timing and perfectly synchronized screams. You almost feel his pain (almost!). Rudd, Carell, and Romany Malco are just gold together. I honestly wonder how many takes it took to film some of those scenes without them breaking down laughing. And let's be real, the overall message of the film is actually quite sweet. Andy's not a loser; he's just a guy who hasn't found the right person yet. Kinda wholesome, right? Plus Catherine Keener is awesome in this movie. Her scenes with Carell have insane chemistry. Overall, I'd say it's a solid comedy that's more than just cheap laughs. Worth a re-watch if you haven't seen it in a while. What are your thoughts? Any scenes or performances that stood out to you guys?
