Okay, "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" - More Than Just a Pretty Face (and a Gun)

Alright horror freaks, Jessmovienerd here with a detour. I know, crime capers aren't exactly my usual, but I stumbled on "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" the other night and HOLY CRAP. It was WAY more fun than I anticipated. Robert Downey Jr. is obviously gold as Harry Lockhart, the thief turned accidental actor, but Val Kilmer as "Gay" Perry is freakin' ICONIC. I mean, the deadpan delivery, the world-weariness... chefs kiss. I honestly didn't know what to expect, but the dialogue is razor sharp, and the plot twists were actually INTERESTING, not just dumb. Like, the whole 'getting rid of the body' subplot? Hilarious and messed up, which is basically my favorite combo. Michelle Monaghan is also surprisingly good! At first, I wasn't sure about Harmony, but her chemistry with RDJ is undeniable, and she holds her own against the chaos of Harry and Perry. I especially loved when she finally got to be her own agent of chaos. I wish she'd gotten more to do, though. The whole movie has this self-aware, meta vibe going on that I loved. It's like it KNOWS it's ridiculous and just rolls with it. For those of you who like dark comedies, this is definitely worth a watch. Is it a horror movie? Nope. But does it have enough dark humor, absurd situations, and surprisingly well-done action to keep me entertained? Absolutely. Plus, the ending is just perfect. Like, really, REALLY perfect. And that whole narration thing that RDJ does? Genius! It's like he's winking at you the whole time. Honestly, I might even watch it again tonight. Anyone else seen it? What did you guys think? Am I overhyping it, or is this a genuinely underrated gem? Let me know!
