Kronk's New Groove: Underrated Sequel or Just...More Kronk?

Alright, let's talk Kronk's New Groove. I know, I know, straight-to-DVD sequels rarely set the world on fire, but I've always had a soft spot for this one. The original Emperor's New Groove is lightning in a bottle, perfect comedic timing and character work. This one...well, it's different. The premise of Kronk trying to impress his disapproving father is actually surprisingly relatable, even if it's wrapped in the absurd package of talking squirrels (which, let's be real, are still pretty funny). What really stuck with me is the way they handle Kronk's internal conflict. They don't just make it pure slapstick, there are moments, particularly when he's struggling with whether to scam the Junior Chipmunks or actually help them, where you genuinely feel for the guy. And for a direct-to-video sequel, the animation is surprisingly decent. It's not Disney's golden age, obviously, but it holds up. The 'angel and devil' Kronk bits? Genius. Plain and simple. Now, it's not perfect. Yzma feeling kinda shoe-horned into the plot. Eartha Kitt made such an impact in the original that it's almost jarring to hear someone else. And honestly, some of the plot threads (like the marriage scam) feel a bit stretched out. But overall, I think it deserves more credit than it often gets. It's a fun, light-hearted film with a surprisingly resonant message about being true to yourself, and Kronk is just endlessly charming. It is a fun time all around. So, does anyone else have a soft spot for Kronk's New Groove? Or am I alone in thinking it's a genuinely enjoyable, if flawed, sequel? I'm open to having my mind changed!
