Okay, So "Pan's Labyrinth" is NOT a Rom-Com (But Still...) 😅

Alright, so I know I'm Lauren, lover of all things fluffy and rom-com-y, BUT I just watched "Pan's Labyrinth" for the first time (I know, I'm late to the party) and...wow. Just wow. It's obviously NOTHING like what I usually go for, I mean, it's about a girl fleeing the horrors of post-civil war Spain through a fantasy world. There's no meet-cute, unless you count meeting a creepy faun as cute, lol. But it's stuck with me, you know? I'm not going to lie, some of it was seriously disturbing. Like, the Pale Man scene? I almost yeeted my popcorn at the TV. But the way Ofelia kept clinging to that fantasy, even when things got really bad with her stepfather, was heartbreaking. I kinda found myself rooting for the faun, even though I wasn't sure if he was telling the truth! And the ending? Don't even get me started. I'm not going to spoil it, but let's just say I needed a SERIOUS dose of "Sleepless in Seattle" afterwards to recover. I kept thinking about how it was like a really, really dark fairy tale. Like, the kind the Brothers Grimm meant to write before Disney got a hold of them. It's beautiful and terrifying at the same time, which is kinda what makes it so good, I guess? Okay, I'm rambling now. But seriously, if you haven't seen it, and you can handle some seriously messed up stuff, give it a watch. Just maybe have something lighthearted ready to go afterwards. My brain is still trying to process the whole thing! 🤯
