"The Pursuit of Happyness" - Still hits hard, or am I just a sap? lol

Okay, so I just rewatched "The Pursuit of Happyness" and, man, does that movie STILL get me. Like, Will Smith legit KILLED it. Especially that scene where he's trying to keep it together in the bathroom after getting accepted into the internship program? Full-on ugly crying, I'm not even ashamed to admit it. And little Jaden Smith was actually pretty good too, which is saying something, cause you know, kid actors can be hit or miss. But here's my question: Does this movie still resonate with everyone else, or am I just in a super sappy mood? I get that it's kinda feel-good and inspirational, maybe even a little cheesy at times (that whole "they can't spell happiness" thing is def corny lol), but there's something about Chris Gardner's struggle that feels so REAL. Like, the desperation of being homeless with your kid, trying to hustle and make something of yourself... it's heavy stuff. Like, as an adult I'm wondering if it idealizes that kind of "boot strap" mentality. But I remember watching it in highschool and being so moved by the grit. So yeah, thoughts? Did this movie age well, or is it just nostalgia talking?
