Ultraviolet...So Bad It's Almost Good?
Okay, so last night I stumbled on "Ultraviolet" (2006) on some random streaming service. I knew nothing about it going in, except Milla Jovovich is in it, and I'm always down for some Milla kicking ass, even if it's, ya know, not "The Fifth Element" level. The whole genetically modified vampire-ish thing was...a choice. And the CGI? Woof. Like, PS2 game cutscene level bad. But something about it was just...fascinatingly trainwrecky? Specifically, that whole motorcycle chase scene where everything's changing colors and she's dodging bullets that are somehow both slow-motion AND hyper-fast? I was laughing, but also kinda digging it? And that kid, Six, was strangely endearing despite probably being the lynchpin of like, five different plot holes. So, did anyone else actually enjoy this movie on a purely ironic level? Or am I just losing it from watching too many movies at 3 AM? I'm genuinely curious if there are other Ultraviolet apologists out there. And also, was the director intentionally aiming for this level of camp, or was it just a case of good intentions gone very, very wrong? I MEAN that hair color alone should have sparked some serious behind the scenes discussions lol.
