Beowulf (2007): Was Grendel just misunderstood?!
Okay, so I just rewatched Beowulf (the Angelina Jolie one, lol) and I have a THEORY! Hear me out. Everyone paints Grendel as this purely evil monster, right? But think about it – he's living in a cave, tormented by the noise from the mead hall. Seriously, imagine living next to a frat house that's always partying. I'd be annoyed too! And remember when Beowulf fights him? He's like, clearly disturbed and reacting to the loud noises. So, my theory is that Grendel isn't inherently evil, BUT just extremely sensitive to sound. Like, maybe he had some super hearing thing going on. And the partying literally drove him nuts. Then, everyone just assumed he was a monster because he lashed out. I mean, wouldn't you?! Beowulf comes in all macho and naked-ish (lol, that scene!), kills him, and is hailed as a hero. But maybe, just maybe, he killed a guy who just needed some noise-canceling headphones and a chill pill. Plus, Grendel's mom... she's kinda hot, not gonna lie. But she's also portrayed as evil, but she's really just avenging her son. Parental love, am I right? Maybe if they had all just tried to, like, talk it out, none of this would have happened. The whole movie just seems kinda skewed in Beowulf's favor. I know, I know, it's a stretch. But it made me think! Anyone else get this vibe, or am I completely off my rocker here? Let me know your theories! #Beowulf #MovieTheories #GrendelWasFramed
