District 9: Did anyone else notice the crazy detail in the mech suit?

Okay, so I just rewatched District 9 for like the millionth time. Still holds up, right? But I was paying extra close attention to the practical effects this time, and WOW. It's easy to get caught up in the whole story, but the visuals are just insane considering when it came out. I'm specifically geeked out about the alien mech suit Wikus uses at the end. The way they integrated the alien biology into the tech... like, you can see these pulsating veins and organic-looking conduits running through the armor. It isn't just metal and wires, there's straight-up alien guts powering the thing. I think that's a really cool touch that makes it way more believable than just a generic robot. Plus, the sound design during those mech scenes? The heavy thuds and whirring, mixed with the squelching sounds of the alien tech... chef's kiss. Did anyone else notice this level of detail? Or have any other favorite visual/audio moments from the movie? I feel like it's a hugely underrated aspect of what makes District 9 such a great sci-fi film. I'm wondering if its even practical effects or heavy CG. I almost cant even tell now a days. Let me know what you think. Btw, is that sequel going to ever actually happen? I'm ready! Really miss the director. Hopefully hes doing good making other films.
